One Brave Night          Please consider supporting St. Matthew’s Youth as they participate in One Brave Night for mental health on April 7, 2017.  We will be joining the Canada-wide challenge to “step up and stay up” on this night, to inspire hope for the one in five Canadians living with mental health problems in any given year.  You can sponsor the St. Matthew’s Youth team on-line on the CAMH One Brave Night website, here:

Are you a young person looking to join our One Brave Night?  We will be hosting an evening of movies, games, and pizza for any youth aged 12-19 who might like to join us.  To register and for more information, please contact Kathy Short (khelenk77@gmail.com).

Lenten Reading                        The Bishop’s book for Lent 2017, Wab Kinew’s, ’The Reason You Walk’,  is available in the church office for $20. We have a stock of 20 books. First come, first served.

For an event that will stick in your mind and give you much food for thought – attend St. Matthews Aboriginal Awareness Day, Sat., April 1st, 10:30am – 3pm, 126 Plains Rd., Burlington.   Learn about aboriginal culture and teachings from an Elder and our Aboriginal Archdeacon, enjoy lunch provided by Six Nations Ladies, then learn and involve yourself in the very meaningful and thought provoking Blanket Ceremony, where all the atrocities inflicted by the white-man on the Aboriginal people, from disease to laws, are cited. You are welcome to bring a blanket to retain memories of the Ceremony.  Cost $15 or Family $25 with all the proceeds going to the Six Nations Ladies to enhance their program.  Pre-registration on-line at www.stmatthewburlington.ca  or by phone message 905-637-2659.

“If you plan on attending, Pre-register quickly as the Community are also very interested and are registering.”

Children’s Programs                 The children will go downstairs after the start of service.

Be Green and thrifty                 The McCready’s are collecting and selling empty wine and beer bottles and real corks.  There is a basket on the table at the top of the stairs to the Parking Lot.  The profits from these two ventures will be added to the Fund to help pay for a Youth Kitchen 6 week Session.  Thank you!
